9: But the olive tree said unto them, should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? 10: And the trees said to the fig tree, come thou and reign over us. 11: But the fig tree said unto them, should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? 12: Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us. 13: And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? 14: Then said all the trees unto the bramble, come thou and reign over us. 15: And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth you anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon. Christ represents the fig tree and the brambles represent Satan.
Isaiah 34:1-5: Come near, ye nations to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. 2: For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them; he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 3: Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcasses, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4: And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. 5: For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down on Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgement.

Habakkuk 3:16-19: When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh on to the people, he will invade them with his troops. 17: Although their fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls. 18: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19: The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high place: To the chief singer of my stringed instruments.
Matthew 7:16-20: Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17: Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19: Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
