Ezek 8:14    Then He brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.
15    Then said He unto me, "Hast thou seen
this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these."
16    And He brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar,
were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

'Tammuz' was an idol personified with animal and vegetable life, a pagan Phoenician and Babylonian system.
Then these twenty-five who have their backs turned away from The LORD are worshipping the 'sun', 'fire philosophers' you might say, since they believe that the 'sun' is god. Ahkneton, pharaoh of Egypt used the solar disc 'Aton', with lines drawn from its centre representing the sun's rays, with little hands attached to the end of each ray. But that was Egypt, and this Temple here in Jerusalem is supposed to be God's House, so what's going on here?
I hope you understand how if you aren't watching out, your 'Beth-El' (House of God, or Christ’s Church), can become a 'Beth-Aven' (house of nothings, a vanity), by accepting dogma and traditions (such as Easter for one) which are outside of God's Word. This message here God is giving to Ezekiel is not to the 'house of Judah' only, but to the 'house of Israel' also, so don't think this applied only to certain Jewish Elders.

The main point I'm trying to make, is that in Genesis 4:26, with the 'profaning of the Name of The LORD', these abominations started. They came from Babylonia, the seat of Satan, and also, where in my opinion, was the 'land of Nod'. Now let's continue our study in Genesis 5.

Gen 5:15   And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared:
16    And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters:
17    And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.
18    And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

We are continuing the lineage of the 'eth' Ha' adham' here. As given in the last Letter on Genesis, this 'Mahalaleel' means 'praise of God' in the Hebrew (Strong's no. 4111). 'Jared' is 'Yered' in the Hebrew meaning 'to descend' (Strong's no.3382). Since false worship was going on at this time, even amongst the bloodline offspring of 'eth' Ha' adham', that being Enos, could this meaning of Jared's name (descent) also point to the state of affairs with mankind upon the earth at that time?
Here begins a change in the family of 'the Adam' with this 'Enoch' of verse 18, which is from the Hebrew root 'chanak', meaning 'to initiate discipline' (Strong's nos. 2596 & 2585). In my opinion, this Enoch from 'the Adam', was the first example of strong 'discipleship' for God on earth. Let's turn to the Book of Jude to find out more about Enoch:

Jude 1:14   And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, "Behold, the LORD cometh with ten thousands of His saints,
15    To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard
speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him."

The message in the Book of Jude is about ungodly men, and the fallen angels. Here in verse 14, Enoch is mentioned as a 'prophet', which is very correct, for some of this verse 15 of Jude hasn't happened yet to even our time. So Enoch represents the first prophet of God given to the lineage of the 'eth' Ha' adham'. Since God walked in the Garden with Adam and Eve, no prophet was
