So is the earth going to be utterly destroyed as some would have us think? No. Is anyone going to 'fly away' up in the clouds to live in nothingness either? Again no, GOD's Kingdom... is... going... to be re-established... upon this earth!
The Assyrian is a type for the role of antichrist for the latter days. We've already learned much in the Book of Isaiah about that role Lucifer will play for the end times. Those who were ready to perish in the land of Assyria is a double-metaphor. It applied historically to the king of Assyria which took the ten tribes of the northern kingdom of Israel captive out of their lands, and it thus applies to where they are today. Those tribes of Israel would be scattered through the nations, but especially to the West in Asia Minor and Western Europe, establishing the Western Christian Nations. For the latter days, the ones of this verse are those who stay on The True Christ, waiting for His return, instead of falling away (i.e. all sincere believers everywhere who believe on and put their trust in The Father and His Son Jesus Christ, staying in His Word). The "outcasts in the land of Egypt" is a double-metaphor with two timeline fulfilments also.
