Faith

Can lack of faith prevent God’s Spirit?

Why then do we lack power, if we accept Christ, and the Holy Spirit dwells in us?  The answer for many is belief; do we really believe, and have faith that God can accomplish what He promises in His word?

This is not new, throughout the scriptures God has always operated through faith.  From the Garden of Eden, the Serpent led Adam and Eve to question, what God had commanded.  They fell because of lack of belief, or faith in God’s commandment to them.

Genesis 2:16-17

16. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Note the three trees “knowledge” (Gen 2:9), man’s ruin “the stake” (Acts 10:39, and 5:30, 1 Peter 2:24) Man’s redemption)

But the Nachash (Hebrew Satan) was more wise, than any living being of the field which Jehovah Elohim had made, and [knowing evil, and not ashamed Gen 2:25 to question the truth of God’s word]

Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life (Christ) also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and ever (Lucifer)

Acts 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem;

Acts 5:30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, Whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/benefitofchrist.htm

1 Peter 2:24 Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

“They were both naked (`arum), the man and his wife, and [knowing only good (Gen2:17) were not ashamed [before God].

Lack of faith prevents God from working in our lives.   Hebrews chapter 11 notes the heroes of the faith. What made them special? They believed God.  Do we really believe God’s promises?

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

(Diligent: Constant in effort to accomplish something; attentive and persistent in doing anything: a diligent student. Done or pursued with persevering attention.)The consistent study of God’s Word.

God delivered Israel from Egypt through mighty miracles, yet they spent forty-years wondering in the wilderness of Sinai.  Why?  Again, Israel lacked the faith in God’s power and ability.  They refused to trust God, even though He delivered them from Egypt. Only Joshua and Caleb were allowed to cross into the Promised Land, because they trusted God.

They believed he could deliver them from the giants in the land. (Nephilim)  They pleaded with Israel to trust God, but they were nearly killed, by the people because of their faith.

God allows us to listen in on the conversation, between Israel and the two spies, Joshua and Caleb and the rest of the nation. These two reported through the eyes of faith, and the other ten through unbelief.   Therefore Israel sent twelve spies into the land, the two who we know about are Joshua and Caleb.  All twelve spies saw the same land, but 10 came back with a bad report, while Joshua and Caleb came back with a good report.

How do we define faith in these modern days?

·        Well the basic faith must be; sitting on a dining chair without checking whether or not it will take your weight. If it does all is well; if it does not, then we know the worst that can happen is to look or feel foolish.

·        We all know about electric that it is invisible, and it can kill, so we call an experienced electrician if anything goes wrong with electric appliances, or electrics, having faith in the person sometimes without even checking his credentials.

·        We all put faith in a surgeon who performs a very difficult operation.

Faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing, or a belief that is not based on proof in religion, faith is a belief in a transcendent reality, a religious teacher,

·        A set of teachings or a Supreme Being.

·        Belief in and devotion to God

Israel struggled in the wilderness because they did not believe the Lord.  The result of their lack of faith was their disobedience.  Obedience and disobedience follows our faith in His words.  The more we believe, the more we respond, the less we believe the less we respond.  Is God really watching?  Does God really care what we do?  Well if we do not think God cares or watches, then we do what our flesh wants us to do.

What is the result of having God’s Spirit in us?  We now have the power, literally the “Dynamite” to live a life pleasing to the Lord.   Do we have enough faith to obey?

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey: whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.

The Choice

Don’t you know that whosoever you give yourselves to, (God or Satan); you will become a servant that will obey either:

So the choice for you is; whether it is of sin unto death that you want, (Satan).

Or of obedience unto righteousness (God)

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Since the fall of our parents Adam and Eve we all have been the servants of sin, but since the only begotten Son of God died for us, to take away the sins of the world, the doctrine has been delivered unto us, and has remained in our hearts.

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

So by Christ’s death the choice has been made for us, and so we serve God in righteousness. But for the rebels of darkness they shall be dealt with at the Great White Throne.

People are good at heart with a few exceptions, regardless of prejudice, likes or dislikes, colour or creed, the children of God should serve Him as servants of righteousness.

Why then do we lack power, if we accept Christ and the Holy Spirit dwells in us?  The answer for many is belief; do we really believe, and have faith that God can accomplish what He promises in His word?

Here lies another choice for you as we approach the end of this letter of Faith and belief.

Revelation 22:13-14

13. I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the first and the Last.

14. Blessed are they that doeth His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

That they may have right to the tree of life “Christ” and the “millennium”

And we may enter in through the gates into the city, The New Jerusalem. “God”

We were cut off from the tree of life when we were evicted from the Garden of Eden by God Himself;

Genesis 3: 24 So He drove out the man;

And he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned everyway, to keep the way

                       of the tree of life.

So from the world that then was (1 Peter 3:5-7) God was very wrath; we were not asked to leave, but we were driven out; and put in place Cherubims and the flaming sword to prevent us from returning this way, which is akin to slamming the door, and sliding the bolts in place.

This was the only way God could be sure that those who were truly His would find their way back to Him; by sending His only Son over 2000 years ago (The Redeemer) to show us the way back to the Father.

Christ has shown those who are His the way back.

1.      Christ died

2.      Was buried (sepulchre)

3.      Arose on the third day

4.      Spiritually ascended into heaven where he sits at the right hand of God.

So we must; as we follow in Christ’s footsteps.

1 Corinthians 15:52-54

52. In a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and ye shall be changed.

53. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

The trumpet shall sound.

1.      Those who are dead in Christ are spiritually raised from sleep.

2.      Those who are alive in Christ will lose corruption and put on incorruption. (Lose their flesh bodies, and put on their spiritual bodies).

3.      The Bride and Christ shall ascend into the millennium. (For 1000 years)

During these one thousand years the bride will truly learn all about the word of God, and at the end of the 1000 years Satan must be released from the bottomless pit to test the “bride” before he is cast into the lake of fire.

New Heaven and new Earth

When the new heaven and new earth are in place Christ will hand over the “Bride” to her rightful husband God and the new heaven will descend unto the new earth where Christ and God will be the light. There will be no more sorrow, no more aging, no more sickness, no more pain, no more death.

Even after reading all that Christ and God have promised, and the lengths they have gone to, to reassure and to comfort you, is it not in your own interests to start believing, and have an insurmountable FAITH in the TRUTH of God and Christ as deliverer’s?

(Insurmountable: incapable of being defeated, overcome, or subdued ... Synonyms bulletproof, impregnable, indomitable, insuperable, and insurmountable.)

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, Which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
