THE TWO GREAT PROPHECIES OF

THE END OF THE AGE”

 (Luke 21, Matt 24, Mark 13)

Edited By J E Bradburn

The great prophecy recorded in Luke 21 is different both in time, place, and subject from that recorded in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

The one recorded in Luke was spoken “on one of those days, as He (Jesus) taught the people in the Templehttp://www.godsplan.org.uk/teachingofjesus.htm

Luke 20:1 (KJV) And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as He taught the people in the Temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon Him with the elders.

Implying suddenness and hostility.

Acts 4:1 (KJV) And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them.

For one note of time is in Luke 21:1(KJV) and He looked up and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the Treasury.”

So that He was still “in the Temple” when He uttered the prophecy recorded in Luke 21, for the whole conversation with the disciples follows without a break the Lord’s commendation of the widow.

However, with regard to the prophecy recorded in Matthew 24, we distinctly read in (verse 1) “and Jesus went out and departed from the Temple…and as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately” (verse 3).

http://www.godsplan.org.uk/olivetdiscourse.htm

So, in Mark 13:1 (KJV) “He went out of the Temple…and as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, over against the Temple, Peter and James, and John and Andrew asked Him privately” (verse 3).

So that we have two great prophecies.  One (Luke) spoken in the Temple, the other (Matthew and Mark) spoken later upon the Mount of Olives. As parts of the first are repeated on the second occasion, we will give the leading points of the three in parallel columns, so that

the object of each, and the difference between them may be clearly seen.

Mark 13:1 (KJV) And as He went out of the temple, one of His disciples saith unto Him, “Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!”

Out of the temple. As in Matthew 24:1, marking this as the latter of two prophecies; (Luke 21:1, 37) being spoken “in the temple”. They both open with a summary of events, which might have taken place in the lifetime and experience of those who heard the words.

FROM THE STAKE ONWARDS

Luke 21:8-9 (KJV)

8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Matthew 24:4-6 (KJV)

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Take heed that no man deceive you.”

5 “For many shall come in my name,’ saying, ‘I am Christ; and shall deceive many.’”

6 “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”

Mark 13:5-7 (KJV)

5 And Jesus answering them began to say, “Take heed lest any man deceive you:”

6 “For many shall come in my name,’ saying, ‘I am Christ; and shall deceive many.’”

7 “And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.”

John refers to the first sign in His First Epistle (John 2:18 (KJV); but had the nation repented at the proclamation by Peter in…

Acts 3:18-26 (KJV)

18. But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He hath fulfilled.

19. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the of the LORD;

20. And He shall send Jesus Christ, Which before was preached unto you: http://www.godsplan.org.uk/dispensationalplan.htm

21. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Restitution: an act of restoring or a condition of being restored: http://www.godsplan.org.uk/secondadvent.htm

22. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, “A prophet shall the LORD your God raise up unto you of your brethren, (John the Baptist) like unto me; Him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever He shall say unto you.

http://www.godsplan.org.uk/whatmessiah.htm

23. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that Prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/armageddon.htm

24. Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

25.Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our Fathers, saying unto Abraham, “And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/Bereshith.htm

26. Unto you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/necessityofgrace.htm

By the twelve in the Land, by them that heard Him Soul destroyed: utterly destroyed, as rendering of karāth, cut off.  see Gen 17:14 & Exodus 30:33 &31:14. The quotation is from Deut 18:18-19 here the Holy Spirit gives the solemn meaning of “I will require it of Him”, as being destruction from among the people.

Deuteronomy 18:18-19 (KJV)

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him.

19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My name, I will require it of him.

Genesis 17:14 (KJV) And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from His people; he hath broken My covenant.”

Exodus 30:33 (KJV) Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from His people.”

Exodus 31:14 (KJV) Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among His people.”

Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard Him. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/whatmessiah.htm

…and by Paul in the Synagogues of the Dispersion, “all that the Prophets had written” would have been fulfilled.

Luke 21:10-11 (KJV)

10 Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Matthew 24:7-8 (KJV)

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Mark 13:8 (KJV)

8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers’ places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Now, it will be observed in the Lord’s discourse as recorded in Luke, that, instead of saying “these are the beginning of sorrows”. and going on with the account of them, He stops short; He goes back; He introduces a parenthesis detailing and describing  events that would take place BEFORE ALL THESE beginnings.

THE DESTRUCTION OF JERUSALEM

12. But before all these,  that is to say “BEFORE” the great Tribulation, all that is recorded concerning Jerusalem in verse 12-24 would take place. These are the closing words.

Luke 21:24 (KJV)

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Luke 21 (KJV)

01 And He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

02 And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

03 And He said, “Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:”

04 “For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.”  http://www.godsplan.org.uk/parables.htm

05 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, He said,

06As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

07 And they asked Him, saying, “Master, but when shall these things be? And what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?”

08 And He said, “Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”

09 “But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.” (verse 32)

10 Then said He unto them, “Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/armageddon.htm

11 “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”

12But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake.”

13And it shall turn to you for a testimony.”

14 “Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:”

15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/gospelofjohn.htm

16And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.”

17 “And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake.”

18But there shall not an hair of your head perish.”

19In your patience possess ye your souls.” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/earthlytabernacle.htm

20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.”

21 “Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter there into.”

22 “For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”

23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.”

24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;”

26Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”

27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”

28 “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

29 And He spake to them a parable; “Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;”

30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.”

31So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.”

32 Verily I say unto you, “This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.”

33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”

34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”

35 “For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.”

36Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

37 “And in the day time He was teaching in the temple; and at night He went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/olivetdiscourse.htm

38 And all the people came early in the morning to Him in the temple, for to hear him.

Now, in the discourse in Matthew 24, instead of going back to speak of the condition of Jerusalem before and until the beginning of the great Tribulation; having said, All these are the beginning of sorrows, He goes on to describe the sorrows, or birth pangs of the Tribulation (Matthew 24:9-23 Mark 13: 9-23), and He continues the prophecy concerning these sorrows up to the moment of His appearing in the clouds of heaven.

Matthew 24:9-23 (KJV)

09 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

While, in the discourse recorded in Luke 21, having gone back, and described what should take place “before all these” beginnings of sorrows, the Lord does not speak further of the great Tribulation, but takes it up at the end, and, as in Matthew and Mark, speaks concerning…:

HIS COMING IN THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN.

(Of course, in Luke the words are slightly different from those in Matthew and Mark): --

Luke 21:25-27 (KJV)

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

Matthew 24:29-30 (KJV)

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Mark 13: 24-26 (KJV)

24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

The first prophecy, in the Temple (Luke 21 (KJV), was uttered in answer to two general questions:

1.      When shall these things be?”

2.      What sign shall there be when these things shall come to pass?”

The answer for (1) is given in verse 24 and the answer to (2) in verses 25-27.

The second prophecy on the Mount of Olives (Matt 24 & Mark 13), was uttered in answer to three distinct questions:

                                                                                http://www.godsplan.org.uk/olivetdiscourse.htm

1.      “When shall these things be?”

2.      “What shall be the sign of Thy coming?” http://www.godsplan.org.uk/secondadvent.htm

3.      And [what shall be the sign] of the end of the age?”

1.      The answer to Q1 was given in Matt 24:15-27.

2.      The answer to Q2 was given in Mark 13:14-23 (KJV), (abomination of desolation

3.      The answer to Q3 was given in Matt24:29-31, Mark 13:24-27, Luke 21:25-28. (KJV) http://www.godsplan.org.uk/Fig%20tree%20Part%201.htm

(Answer 1) Matthew 24:15-27 (KJV)

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

(Answer 2) Mark 13:14-23 (KJV)

14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:

15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:

16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.

17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.

19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

(Answer 3) Matthew 24:29-31 (KJV)

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

And then both prophecies conclude with the Parable of the Fig- tree, http://www.godsplan.org.uk/Fig%20tree%20Part%201.htm  http://www.godsplan.org.uk/Fig%20tree%20Part%202.htm and the final solemn assurance: -- Verily I say unto you, This generation shall by no means pass, till all these things may be fulfilled.”  https://levendwater.org/companion/append105.html (See app 3) This latter is the last of four equally impressive statements:  Matt 10:23; 16:28; 23:39; 24; 34.

Each of these consists of two classes, the former of which contains the stronger negative that could possibly have been used (see App 105 111) and should be rendered “by no means”, or “in no wise”, as it is often rendered elsewhere; while in the latter clause the verb is in the subjunctive mood with or without the Greek Particle “an”, which (though it cannot be represented in translation) make the clause hypothetical and dependent on some condition expressed or implied. This condition was, in each of these four passages, the repentance of the nation, in response to the appeal of “the other servants” of;

Matthew 22:4 (KJV) Again, he sent forth other servants, saying `Tell them which are bidden, (bidding) `Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.”

as recorded in

Acts 3:18-26 (KJV)

18. And on My servants and on My handmaidens I will pour out in those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19. And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the LORD come:

Turned = changed

The kindred name noun, epepiphania, is used of the LORD’s coming. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/secondadvent.htm

Trust me! Just give me the power and I will set things right. Then I will fix up the world and return it to you."   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abaddon

Revelation 9:11 (KJV) And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. KJV, 1611

What a lie that will be! Yet the nations will have no choice. They have stated publicly that internationalism needs a "strong hand from somewhere".

·        They believe in man. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/doctrineofdemons.htm

1.      The intent of this doctrine of demons is to strike at the very basis of the teaching unit that God has chosen to deal with as an example of His system.

2.       That unit is the family.

3.       By destroying the stability of the family, the demons destroy the basic building block of our society.

4.      We are watching this society crumble before our eyes because people are living together outside of marriage.

5.      It is fundamental to our understanding and our relationship with Jesus Christ and our worship of God that the family unit is understood.

6.      The breakdown of the family and national systems then goes into the perversion of Sodom and Gomorrah. (Same sex marriages.)

1-6 are all very important; however number six gives food for thought and proof of the family breakdown. While those who live together outside of marriage show no commitment, and do not believe in God, the homosexuals and lesbians wish to get married in church to further augment their actions and numbers, and undermine God’s purpose and commandments.

·        They are Utopians (having impossibly ideal conditions).

·        They are humanists,  http://www.godsplan.org.uk/atheistsonreligeon.htm

·        This means both secular humanists and religious humanists.

·        They believe a man with charisma can initiate the humanistic dream of a New World Order. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/oneworldsystemwithout_God2.htm

·        They desperately want to see it firmly established.

·        Nuclear disarmament, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_disarmament

·        The assurance of middle east and global 'peace and security', http://www.godsplan.org.uk/eviltrilogy.htm

·        Freedom from hunger, (As Above)

·        World health, (As above)

All these world programs need strong central leadership.

·        Global economic equality,

·        Global warming,

·        Global eco-salvation.

These are all burning issues that they believe can be addressed by this "strong leadership", and so they await 'the man'.

The dream of achieving this man centred Utopian happiness (without God) is not new, it goes back a long way. It hails from the ancient post flood Tower of Babel. At that time Nimrod and his mother/wife Semiramis attempted to gather the peoples under one humanistic politico-religious covering. Of course, they left God out of the picture, and so they failed. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/book1.htm

Nevertheless, the dream lives on in the humanistic pantheistic heart. It has been fostered down through time by a host of hidden entities, which we won't go into here. Therefore, the world (tares) are waiting for this to happen. All that is required is the appropriate crisis and the emergence of the prophesied "crisis manager" onto the stage of history. The Bible tells us about this in,

Daniel 9:27(KJV) And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the confirmation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

This humanistic covenant with "many" is what initiates the final seven years of God's determined dealings with His Jewish and Christian people. These are all the people who claim allegiance to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The coming world history will not be a pleasant time for people of conscience and Christian devotion. Many will fall away from the faith in the coming great apostasy spoken of by our Apostle Paul. But we can rejoice in this one thing. God is in control. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/godcontrols.htm  http://www.godsplan.org.uk/controloffallenearth.htm He sets the agenda of holy history. In all of this God's sovereign purposes will overrule. When all is said and done, God will bring forth the remnant of His people in a victorious deliverance and return. They will be refined (free from impurities; fastidious, cultivated; precise, exact) from tribulation and Messiah will return in vengeance and deliverance of His people at a place (or places) knowable spiritually as, the "sheep-pens" of "Bozrah” (See Apostasy). http://www.nccg.org/mlt/sermons/3_235.html and http://www.godsplan.org.uk/earthlytabernacle.htm

Emergence of a United States of Europe http://www.godsplan.org.uk/holyromanempireeuun.htm

Today I wish to address a topic that has more or less been thrust upon me because of the rife speculation in Messianic and other circles that the ratification of the European Union's Lisbon Treaty on 1 December 2009 is the beginning of an important chapter in world history that will see the visible emergence of the end-time Beast Nation. Many are saying that what we are witnessing is not only the beginnings of a new superpower akin to a 'United States of Europe' but perhaps more ominously the last resurrection of the Holy Roman Empire and the Antichrist State that will eventually unify the whole world into a single government called the 'New World Order' (NWO).

A New Nazi Germany?

Messianics in particular are claiming that the real power behind the EU is Germany and what we are seeing is the resurrection of a German - and in particular a Nazi – superpower (Third Reich) that has stealthily re-established the Holy Roman Empire under the guise of a Federal Europe. They are even claiming that the Germans are the ancient Assyrian oppressors of Israel who are about to precipitate World War 3 and a second Jewish (and Christian) holocaust. And many of these Messianics are turning to the late Herbert W. Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God who made predictions of a revived Nazi Germany. 1

2 Thessalonians 2:8 (KJV) And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming.

1 Timothy 6:14 (KJV) That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In Joel, the word is “terrible”.

Day of the Lord. First occurrence of this expression is in;

Isaiah 2:12 (KJV) (see note there) For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon everyone that is proud and lofty, and upon everyone that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low.

Day of the Lord: This is the first of twenty occurrences. In sixteen it is simply “yōm Jehovah” In other places it is combined with other words, such as “wrath”, “vengeance”. Thus the expression is stamped with the number “four” for “the day of the Lord” is the day when everything done will be to abase man and exalt Jehovah. For now it is “man’s day” when man exalts himself, and bows God out of the world He has created.

Gentiles = 1. of or pertaining to any people not Jewish. 2. Christian, as distinguished from Jewish. http://www.godsplan.org.uk/christianrace.htm

The conclusion of both prophecies thus consists of an assured certainty, with a definite contingency, or uncertainty, which was not fulfilled. Had the nation repented, then Jesus Christ would have been “sent”, and “the restoration of all things God had spoken by all His holy prophets since the world began” would have taken place, in accordance with God’s Divine assurance given by Peter in; (Acts 3:18-26 (KJV); but the condition of national repentance (Leviticus 26:40—42 KJV) & (Hosea 14:1—4) &c, was not fulfilled; hence that generation passed away, and both prophecies (with all the others) are now postponed. The first sign of all did (and will again) take place—the rising of the many “Anti—christs”, whereby that John could say they knew that it was “the last hour” before “the end of that age” (1 John 2:18 KJV). http://www.godsplan.org.uk/armageddon.htm

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Amen
